Culture
The small town of Bethany Beach owes its name to the beautiful, wide beach that borders its coast.
The beach is quieter and much quieter than some of the larger beaches and resorts in the area, and is suitable for families or groups of friends who want to sunbathe, swim or catch waves on a surfboard in a beautiful setting.
When the first English and Dutch settlers arrived between 1650 and 1675, Rehoboth Beach began its history filled with farmers and countrymen, many of whom would fight for freedom during the US War of Independence.
Rehoboth Beach has always been a town that invited visitors to enjoy its beaches and its many restaurants, shops and sandy beaches by the sea.
For nature lovers the must stop is Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge where you can find one of the largest collections of wildlife refuges stretching from Canada to the Gulf of Mexico.
Much of the refuge is open to the public and attracts many visitors throughout the year thanks to its unique attractions.
