UTC to PST Converter
Pacific Standard Time is 8 hours behind UTC. To convert UTC to PST, subtract 8 hours. For example, 3:00 PM UTC is 7:00 AM PST.
Pacific Standard Time is 8 hours behind UTC. To convert UTC to PST, subtract 8 hours. For example, 3:00 PM UTC is 7:00 AM PST.
Choose any UTC date and time. The primary result uses fixed Pacific Standard Time (UTC−08:00). A second line shows date-aware Pacific Time for the same instant so you can immediately see whether a Pacific location is using PST or PDT.
These common conversions use fixed Pacific Standard Time at UTC−08:00. Times before 8:00 AM UTC fall on the previous PST calendar day.
8:00 AM UTC = 12:00 AM PST. Same calendar day.
See in table →12:00 PM UTC = 4:00 AM PST. Same calendar day.
See in table →3:00 PM UTC = 7:00 AM PST. Same calendar day.
See in table →5:00 PM UTC = 9:00 AM PST. Same calendar day.
See in table →12:00 AM UTC = 4:00 PM PST on the previous calendar day.
See date rollover →Subtract exactly eight hours because PST is the fixed UTC−08:00 standard-time offset.
Learn the rule →Use this complete reference for every whole hour of the day. The 12-hour and 24-hour columns are equivalent; the date column flags conversions that land on the previous PST calendar day.

PST is always UTC−08:00. PDT is always UTC−07:00. Pacific Time (ET) is the regional clock system that can switch between PST and PDT where daylight saving time is observed. If you are scheduling with a real Pacific location such as Los Angeles, use a date-aware Pacific Time conversion instead of assuming PST all year.
The conversion is fixed: PST = UTC − 8 hours. Start with the UTC time, subtract eight hours, and move to the previous calendar day if the result crosses midnight.
Subtracting eight hours changes the PST calendar date for UTC times between 12:00 AM and 7:59 AM. At 8:00 AM UTC, the PST result is exactly 12:00 AM on the same calendar date.
With conventional 9:00 AM–5:00 PM workdays, there is no full one-hour overlap inside both schedules. The boundary is 5:00 PM UTC = 9:00 AM PST. A practical compromise is 4:30 PM–5:30 PM UTC, which is 8:30 AM–9:30 AM PST.
This is the exact point where a 9-to-5 PST workday begins as a 9-to-5 UTC workday ends.
Converts to 08:30–09:30 PST, giving each side 30 minutes outside a strict 9-to-5 window.
Convenient for UTC, but eight hours too early for the start of a normal PST workday.
UTC is the global time standard used as the reference for civil time zones and UTC offsets. It does not move forward or backward for daylight saving time.
PST is the fixed standard-time offset UTC−08:00. It is not interchangeable with PDT, which is UTC−07:00, or with the broader term Pacific Time, which can be date-dependent.
Use these directional converters when your source, target or seasonal Pacific abbreviation changes.
Three details prevent most conversion mistakes: PST is fixed, Pacific Time can be seasonal, and early UTC hours can land on the previous PST date.
The fixed UTC→PST conversion is arithmetic: PST is UTC−08:00. For real-location Pacific Time, CalendarHours uses date-aware IANA time-zone identifiers so the active abbreviation and offset can reflect civil-time rules for the selected date.

A converter labeled “UTC to PST” should preserve the mathematical meaning of PST: UTC−08:00. A real location such as Los Angeles follows Pacific Time and can use a different offset during daylight saving time. Showing both results avoids silently changing the meaning of the user's query.
Quick answers to the most common UTC-to-PST conversion questions.
Subtract 8 hours from UTC. Pacific Standard Time (PST) is fixed at UTC−08:00, so 12:00 UTC is 4:00 AM PST and 17:00 UTC is 9:00 AM PST.
Yes. PST means Pacific Standard Time and is a fixed UTC−08:00 standard-time offset. Pacific Daylight Time (PDT) is UTC−07:00.
Not exactly. PST is the standard-time phase at UTC−08:00. Pacific Time (PT) is a regional umbrella that can use PST in standard time and PDT at UTC−07:00 during daylight saving time where observed.
8:00 AM UTC is 12:00 AM PST on the same calendar date.
12:00 PM UTC is 4:00 AM PST.
3:00 PM UTC is 7:00 AM PST.
5:00 PM UTC is 9:00 AM PST.
UTC times from 12:00 AM through 7:59 AM convert to the previous calendar day in PST because subtracting eight hours crosses midnight.
Use UTC to PST when you specifically need the fixed UTC−08:00 standard-time offset. Use UTC to PDT for the fixed UTC−07:00 daylight-time offset. Use UTC to PT when you want date-aware Pacific Time for a real Pacific location.
There is no full one-hour overlap inside both conventional 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM workdays. The boundary is 5:00 PM UTC, which is 9:00 AM PST. A practical one-hour compromise is 4:30 PM to 5:30 PM UTC, or 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM PST.
