Does All of Ohio Have the Same Time?
Yes. All 88 Ohio counties use Eastern Time. The same clock applies to the Lake Erie shore, Columbus and Central Ohio, the Cincinnati region, Northwest Ohio, Appalachia, the Ohio River communities and every other part of the state. Ohio has no internal time-zone boundary or county-level exception.

What Does Ohio Law Say About Time & Permanent DST?
Ohio Revised Code §1.04 says the standard time throughout Ohio is the mean astronomical time of the 75th degree of longitude west from Greenwich. That meridian corresponds to a UTC−05:00 standard-time baseline—the offset used by Eastern Standard Time. During federally prescribed daylight saving time, Ohio advances one hour to EDT at UTC−04:00.
No permanent-DST change is in force as of August 20, 2026. In the 136th General Assembly, Senate Concurrent Resolution 6 and House Concurrent Resolution 10 urge Congress to make daylight saving time permanent. Both remain resolutions rather than enacted changes to Ohio civil time, and neither is enrolled. Ohio therefore continues to alternate between EST and EDT.
