Singapore Time Zone

Singapore uses one time zone nationwide at UTC+08:00 all year. The time is commonly called Singapore Time (SGT). Singapore's National Metrology Centre uses the official name Singapore Standard Time (SST), generated by advancing UTC(SG) by eight hours. Singapore does not currently observe daylight saving time.

Why Singapore Changed to UTC+8 in 1982

Malaysia announced in December 1981 that Peninsular Malaysia would advance 30 minutes to match East Malaysia at GMT+08:00. Singapore decided to follow because of the close economic and social links between the two countries and to avoid confusion for travellers and businesses.
