Is New York Moving to Permanent Daylight Saving Time?
No change is in force as of August 20, 2026. Senate Bill S3380 and its Assembly companion A10571 propose making Eastern Daylight Time the year-round standard time of New York State and New York City if federal law permits permanent DST.
The proposal also contains a regional condition involving Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. S3380 remains in the Senate Judiciary Committee, while A10571 was referred to the Assembly Governmental Operations Committee on March 13, 2026. New York therefore continues to use EST in standard time and EDT during daylight saving time.
