Is New Jersey Ending Daylight Saving Time?

No change is in force as of August 20, 2026. New Jersey has active policy debate in both directions. Senate Bill 293, pre-filed for the 2026 session, proposes ending seasonal DST and keeping New Jersey on permanent standard time at UTC−05:00.

Senate Bill 3236, introduced February 2, 2026, takes the opposite approach: it would move New Jersey to permanent Eastern Daylight Time at UTC−04:00 after federal law authorizes states to observe daylight saving time year-round.
