NYSE core session, Eastern Time.

Tomorrow Closes

Normal close is 4:00 PM ET; early-close dates are handled separately.

Important NYSE-hours distinction: the NYSE main market is not accurately described as a universal 4:00 AM–8:00 PM session. For NYSE Tape A, the official Pre-Opening Session begins at 6:30 AM ET and core trading runs 9:30 AM–4:00 PM ET. Separate NYSE Group venues such as NYSE Arca, American, National and Texas publish different early and late trading sessions.

NYSE hours in your local time

The New York Stock Exchange uses Eastern Time. CalendarHours keeps the exchange schedule anchored to America/New_York so daylight-saving changes are handled correctly, then converts today’s opening and closing bell into the time zone you select.

Eastern Time switches between EST and EDT. Using the IANA time zone instead of a fixed UTC offset prevents one-hour errors around daylight-saving changes.

Extended-Hours Trading

See how U.S. pre-market, after-hours and emerging overnight sessions differ from the NYSE core cash-equity session.

Why this section matters: many generic “NYSE hours” pages collapse all U.S. extended-hours activity into one schedule. CalendarHours keeps the official NYSE Group venue differences visible. Official NYSE venue hours.
2026 Market Structure Update

Is the NYSE going to trade 24 hours?

The NYSE core exchange is not becoming a 24-hour market in 2026. The NYSE Group initiative applies to NYSE Arca Equities. NYSE says Arca is targeting near-continuous weekday trading, with an overnight session planned from 9:00 PM to 4:00 AM ET and a one-hour daily break from 8:00 PM to 9:00 PM.

NYSE’s May 2026 extended-hours FAQ identifies December 6, 2026 as the target launch date, subject to the stated regulatory approvals and readiness of market-data, clearing and settlement infrastructure.

Do Not Confuse the Venues

NYSE vs NYSE Arca hours

Both venues have a 9:30 AM–4:00 PM ET core session, but their surrounding sessions are different. NYSE Tape A begins with a 6:30 AM Pre-Opening Session. NYSE Arca currently publishes a 4:00–9:30 AM Early Trading Session and a 4:00–8:00 PM Late Trading Session, with an additional overnight expansion targeted for later in 2026.

Weekend Intent

Is the NYSE open Saturday or Sunday?

No. The NYSE core market is closed on Saturday and Sunday. After the Friday closing bell, the next regular NYSE core session normally begins Monday at 9:30 AM ET, unless Monday is an exchange holiday.

Core Session Comparison

NYSE vs Nasdaq trading hours

The NYSE and Nasdaq both list regular U.S. stock-market hours of 9:30 AM–4:00 PM ET. Their auction mechanics, pre-market structures and extended-hours venues differ, so CalendarHours keeps each exchange on its own canonical page rather than treating them as interchangeable.

Accuracy & Methodology

How CalendarHours verifies NYSE hours

CalendarHours treats the official NYSE trading-hours and holiday calendar as the source of truth. The live engine is anchored to the America/New_York time zone, applies weekends, full-day exchange holidays and scheduled early closes, and distinguishes the NYSE Tape A main market from separate NYSE Group venues with different extended sessions.

Editorial verification for this version was completed on July 24, 2026. The NYSE Holidays & Trading Hours page, NYSE Trading Information, the NYSE equities gateway specification and the 2026 extended-hours materials were checked before publication.
