Is MOEX open on weekends?
Frequently, yes. MOEX’s Additional Weekend Trading Session for the Securities Market runs from 9:50 AM to 7:00 PM MSK on many Saturdays and Sundays. The opening auction occupies the first ten minutes, followed by trading from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM for eligible instruments.
Weekend trading is part of the nearest following ordinary trading day, and MOEX warns that not every security is admitted. This is a major reason a generic “closed Saturday and Sunday” stock-exchange template is inaccurate for Moscow Exchange in 2026.
Weekends when MOEX does not run the additional session
The official 2026 notice excludes these weekend pairs from the Securities and Derivatives additional session: Jan 3–4, Jan 10–11, Feb 14–15, Mar 7–8, Mar 21–22, May 9–10, Jun 20–21, Aug 1–2, Aug 15–16, Sep 12–13, Oct 24–25 and Dec 5–6.
